Sweet and Spicy Honey Sauce

The honey sauce gives the meat the sweet and tangy texture. This sauce has been a well-kept secret of many South-East Asian cuisine gurus. Gladly, there are many Asian restaurants close to our neighbourhoods where one can delicious deep-fried chicken or pork garnished with sweet and yet spicy honey and soy sauce. If you want to try making this sauce at home, here is the easy recipe.

Cooking Instructions

  • To cook the sauce, mix all the ingredients in a pan and stir well over a medium heat.
  • The mixture should boil until it bubbles.
  • When the sauce begins to bubble, it is time to lower the heat and simmer it for about 3-4 minutes.
  • The sauce should thicken.
  • Add cooked meat to the sauce and mix it well in the sauce.
  • Turn off the heat when meat pieces are evenly covered with sauce.


  • 1 tbsp. of soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp. of rice wine
  • 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. ketchup
  • 3 tbsp. of honey
  • 2 tsp. of sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. of minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. of grated ginger
  • A pinch of pepper
